Assistant Director of Nursing


1.   To ensure a smooth flow of operation on assigned unit.

2.   To ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations while adhering to resident rights.

1.    Review and follow up on 24-hour report.

2.    Review all accident/incident reports and ensure that preventative measures are appropriately documented and implemented.

3.    Daily rounds – compliance with wound preventative measures.

4.    Participate in QA monitors and follow-up.

5.    Follow up on recommendations from dietary, pharmacy, medical records, care conference change sheets.

6.    Monitor and order supplies within budget guidelines.

7.    Monitor staff overtime.

8.    Complete Nurse and CENA evaluations and disciplinary actions using input from supervising staff.

9.    Monitor and evaluate pain management.

10. Attend and participate in meetings including:

16. Provide instruction and direction to unit staff as needed.

17. Promote positive leadership in an assertive and pro-active manner.

18. Assist in discharge planning and admissions.

19. Monitor for safety, infection control, cleanliness, and maintenance issues and follow up.

20. Assure “Resident Rights”.

21. Demonstrate good time management and follow through.

22. Monitor and maintain timeliness of labs.

Director of Maintenance

Job description
Thurston Woods Village is seeking a Director of Maintenance who will oversee a great team and ensure a focus on creating/maintaining an environment that will best serve our residents. Thurston Woods is a faith based, not for profit retirement community serving the Sturgis area for nearly 70 years.


· 5 years experience in maintenance, construction, emergency repairs, or equivalent combination of work experience and education

· Must have high school diploma or equivalent

· Experience managing others

· Valid Driver’s License and good driving record

· Basic computer knowledge

· Successful candidate will be organized and a process oriented thinker


· Inspect and service HVAC and emergency generator systems, roofing system and other equipment within appropriate scope of a maintenance worker.

· Develop and maintain current preventative maintenance program to ensure longevity of equipment in use and regulatory compliance.

· Monitor and manage expenses to stay within budgeted amounts

· Responsible for maintenance of the grounds, including lawnmowing and landscape management

· Supervise the work of maintenance staff, monitoring quality of work, quantity of work and addressing training needs

· Position is a working supervisor, requires completion of work orders and other tasks expected of other maintenance staff

· Department is responsible for turning over apartments after move outs, a Director with knowledge of basic home repairs, patching and painting is required

· Oversee the work of contracted professionals, holding accountable for quality of work and timely completion of specified work

· Be knowledgeable, or become knowledgeable of Life Safety Code requirements governing long term care facilities, including monitoring of completion of fire drills and other requirements.

· Maintain positive communication with local fire marshal, building inspector, state elevator inspector, and any other jurisdictions governing the community

· Seek efficiencies in flow and communication of maintenance needs, e.g. electronic work order system

· Maintain confidentiality with resident information and other protected information at all times

· Be available to work a fluctuating work week if needed, often on short notice

· Manage and develop a team setting and be a positive influence on others, a high level of customer service is expected for this position and all maintenance staff

· Communicate politely and effectively, both verbally and in writing with residents and staff

Maintenance Technician


To assist the Director of Maintenance in providing the residents of TWV with well maintained buildings, equipment and grounds that will assure their comfort and satisfaction.
To assist other departments in serving the residents by maintaining their areas and equipment.
To support the achievement of the Department’s mission by the efficient/ effective use of resources in meeting job responsibilities.

3rd shift


1.    To assure residents personal clothing are clean and in good repair.

2.    To assure that personal clothing is placed in the proper closets and drawers as labeled.

3.    To assure that bed linens and terries are clean and available for use when needed.



1.    To survey laundry situation and start where previous shift left off.

2.    Collect all barrels /replacing them with empty ones one station at a time.

3.    Sort and weigh items before placing them in washers “using station number system to follow through from sorting to drying.

4.    Lifting to 50 pounds to weigh soiled laundry.

5.    Filling washers to their load capacity/ without overloading.

6.    Unloading (pulling) linens out of commercial size washers.

7.    Washing personal resident clothing as advised in small washers.

8.    Drying all items according to the fabric to keep from over drying (wrinkling)

9.    Fold and hang all clothing/terries according to need placing them in their designated areas as marked.

10. Keeping supervisor notified when you are experiencing concerns, or low on chemical.

11.  Immediately writing a work order if /when repair is needed for a washer or dryer.

12. Emptying lint traps as designated and signs off on the sheet.

13. Clean washers daily as needed /Sweep, mop, dust all areas as needed pre safety requirements.
