I count it a special privilege, and a gift from God, to be the Chaplain of Thurston Woods Village. After having spent nearly 40 years pastoral ministry in 3 churches, 21 of those years here in Sturgis, God has blessed me with a calling to serve our Community at Thurston Woods Village.
My goal here has not changed from what it’s always been; I want to present Jesus, glorify Jesus, and lead souls to Him. I know He is the Answer, and I am not, I am simply His servant. I am here also to care for the sheep God has placed in my hands. I am able to do this in several ways:
1. To lead Bible studies/worship services available to all residents each week.
2. To regularly call on the residents in their rooms and keep myself available for general visitation, prayer, counseling and communion. And, if requested, to conduct funeral services.
3. To be available to our staff for spiritual or emotional support and counseling.
4. To represent our Thurston Woods Village family at resident viewings or funerals.
5. As much as I am able to be readily available and “on call” for emergencies.
“Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.” Acts 20:28
